By special arrangement with Creos, the Kravis Center is thrilled to bring the large-scale interactive travelling art exhibition, Los Trompos to West Palm Beach. Los Trompos is free to the public and reservations are not required.

Los Trompos builds upon the Kravis Center’s continual objective to amplify connecting communities through the arts and technology by continuing to welcome everyone to experience unique ways of gathering at and engaging with the campus that are free and open to all. Recent community activities include the Kravis Center’s third annual Block Party as well as ongoing weekly programs, such as the dynamic “Live & Social” outdoor concert series on the Kravis Family Plaza and the stunning exhibition Jazz In Unexpected Places, located on the second floor of the Cohen Pavilion.

Los Trompos (Spinning Tops) by Mexican creators Esrawe + Cadena draws its inspiration from a toy that has been popular with children around the world since the dawn of time. This large-scale, interactive artistic installation engages visitors in a way that is both meaningful and playful.

Los Trompos features a set of larger-than-life, three-dimensional spinning tops in a variety of colors and shapes. The colorful surfaces of each top are created in part by fabric woven in a traditional Mexican style. The fabric is stretched over the modules to seat several people at once. Functioning as both artwork and rotating platform, each sculpture acts as a gathering place for relaxation, social interaction and entertainment. By working together to create momentum, visitors can spin the tops on their bases. Through interaction and collaboration, Los Trompos comes to life and gives new meaning to the art of play.

About CREOS:
For 10 years, Creos has been bringing art to the world, transforming public spaces into must-see destinations. What started as a bold idea had grown into recognized expertise, with a unique model propelling around 30 interactive installations to more than 120 cities worldwide. Driven by a shared passion and strong collaborations, Creos has shaped an industry and opened new opportunities for creators. And the adventure continues!

The concept behind Los Trompos is based on an approach of traditional toys, their colorful expression and the way they are constructed. The creators wanted to talk about the traditions and skills of the craftsmen in Mexico, as an inheritance of our culture. We like the idea of translating these techniques into new symbols.
