Peterson and Steven Van Kuiken, Senior Partner Emeritus of McKinsey & Company
About Sandra E. Peterson
Ms. Peterson is an operating partner at Clayton Dubilier & Rice (CD&R), where she spans consumer and healthcare investing and spearheads the firm’s efforts to create technology and digital capacity to support its investments and portfolio companies. Ms. Peterson is the lead independent director of the Microsoft board of directors. Prior to CD&R, she was group worldwide chairman of Johnson & Johnson, where her portfolio included medical devices, consumer, global operating infrastructure, technology, supply chain and key strategic initiatives. Previously, Ms. Peterson served as Chairman & CEO of Bayer CropScience AG, CEO of Bayer Medical Care, and president of Bayer HealthCare AG’s Diabetes Care Division. She started her career at McKinsey and has held executive positions at Medco Health Solutions (formerly known as Merck-Medco), Nabisco, and Whirlpool.
Ms. Peterson is Executive Chairman of Volastra and a member of the Board of Seaport Therapeutics and Zephyr AI all early-stage life science companies. She is chairman of the board of the American Academy in Berlin, serves as international advisory board member to global strategic advisory firm Hakluyt & Company, as well as Temasek Sovereign Wealth Fund. She is on the board of the Institute for Advanced Study, the world- renowned center
for science and humanities research in Princeton, NJ.
Ms. Peterson has appeared on FORTUNE Magazine’s list of Most Powerful Women numerous times and was featured on the Magazine’s inaugural list of Leaders Who Are Changing Healthcare. Ms. Peterson attended Princeton University (M.P.A., Applied Economics), and Cornell University (B.A., Government).
About Steven Van Kuiken
Steve is Senior Partner Emeritus at McKinsey & Company and a board member and advisor to five different technology companies in the healthcare and enterprise technology segments. He also chairs the New Jersey Governor’s Advisory Council for Strategic Innovation Centers, the State-wide network of industry-focused incubators and accelerators supporting fast-growth technology companies in AI, robotics and digital.
While at McKinsey, Steve founded and led McKinsey Technology, the firm’s global enterprise technology practice. Under Steve’s leadership, McKinsey Technology was one of McKinsey’s largest and fastest-growing global practices. It helps large companies transform their technology functions to better compete in the age of AI, digital and Cloud. He also led McKinsey’s strategic alliance with AWS and the acquisition of Candid Partners which became the foundation for McKinsey’s Cloud consulting business. Prior to establishing McKinsey Technology, he led the North American Digital Practice and founded and led the firm’s global Healthcare Technology Practice.
As a board member and advisor to fast-growth technology companies, Steve is helping to build AI platforms and solutions for adoption by large enterprises. He advises on strategy, organization, business model, go-to-market, and product design and architecture.
