We are seeking a full-time Facilities Services Technician to join our team. In this role, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our building systems—HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and more—run smoothly and reliably. From routine maintenance to emergency repairs, your expertise helps create a safe, comfortable, and inspiring environment for our audiences, artists, and staff. This hands-on position is ideal for a skilled technician with broad experience in commercial building maintenance who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic performing arts environment. No two days are the same, and every task you complete contributes to keeping the show going.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC systems (fan coils, air handlers, pumps; chiller experience is a plus).
- Service refrigeration equipment (walk-ins, reach-ins, ice machines).
- Troubleshoot and repair plumbing systems and fixtures.
- Perform general building repairs (drywall, flooring, painting, furniture assembly).
- Monitor and respond to building automation system (BAS) alerts.
- Support onsite contractors and assist with special projects.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and hazard-free environment in compliance with safety standards.
- Complete and document work orders through a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Assist with electrical troubleshooting and basic repairs.
- Support operations during events as needed, including setup and technical support.
- Respond to facility emergencies and breakdowns.
Qualifications/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in facilities maintenance, preferably in a large, multi-purpose or cultural facility.
- Broad knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and carpentry systems.
- EPA Universal Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Familiarity with building automation systems (ABS/BAS) and CMMS platforms.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Skilled in hand and power tools; soldering and light fabrication a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Self-starter with attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, holidays, and extended shifts when required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a performing arts, convention center, or other high-traffic public venue.
- Project management experience related to capital or operational improvement initiatives.
- OSHA safety training or other relevant certifications.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
This position requires: Visual acuity for reading schematics, monitoring systems, and identifying maintenance needs; Color perception and hearing/listening skills for safety and operational awareness; Manual dexterity including hand and finger use for tool operation and repairs; Ability to climb ladders, push/pull equipment, and lift/carry items up to 50 pounds; Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching in various positions; Operation of vehicles and machinery as needed for maintenance tasks; Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments, including extreme heat, mechanical and electrical equipment, pressurized systems, moving objects, high places, fumes/odors, hazardous materials, dirt/dust, and noise.
