Cirque du Soleil Executive Vice-Chairman
Speaks to Kravis Center Corporate Partners

Daniel Lamarre discusses memoir in special luncheon presentation

(West Palm Beach, Fla.) Executive Vice-Chairman for Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, Daniel Lamarre, discussed his recent book release during the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts’ first Corporate Partners Business Speaker Series luncheon of the season. Mr. Lamarre was interviewed by Laurie Silvers, Co-CEO of Hollywood.com and Kravis Center Life Trustee, on Tuesday, November 8 in the Kravis Center’s Gimelstob Ballroom in the Cohen Pavilion. The pair discussed his book, “Balancing Acts: Unleashing the Power of Creativity in Your Life and Work.”

Jane Mitchell, Corporate Partners Executive Committee Chair and Kravis Center Board member, welcomed more than 120 Corporate Partners members and guests to the luncheon. She began with a special greeting to Victor Dodig, President and CEO of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), who generously sponsored the event. She also recognized Kravis Center CEO, Diane Quinn, Board Chair Sherry Barrat and the Kravis Center’s Board and Life Trustees in attendance.

“It is my pleasure to welcome you to our first Corporate Partners Business Speaker Series event during our 30th Anniversary season,” said Ms. Mitchell. “We thank you for your belief in what we do and your enthusiasm for building awareness of the Kravis Center in the business community. Your outstanding support has allowed the Center to be a vibrant part of this community for 30 years.”

Ms. Mitchell then gave a special tribute to George Elmore, Kravis Center Life Trustee and Corporate Partners Honorary Chair, and presented him with a commemorative gift.

“Our 30th Anniversary would not be complete without shining a spotlight on George Elmore,” continued Ms. Mitchell. “A true leader, George spearheaded the Kravis Center’s Corporate Partners program and Hardrives, the company he founded, became a charter member. He is a pillar of the community, with his reach going far beyond the Kravis Center, having been on the ground floor of many organizations that thrive today because of his commitment, enthusiasm, wisdom and generosity. George has paved the way for a very exciting future for the Kravis Center and Palm Beach County.”

Ms. Mitchell then welcomed Mr. Lamarre and Ms. Silvers to the stage.

During the luncheon presentation, Mr. Lamarre gave the crowd a behind-the-curtain look at Cirque du Soleil. His memoir, “Balancing Acts: Unleashing the Power of Creativity in Your Life and Work,” shares his experiences leading the awe-inspiring organization, and teaches readers what it takes for anyone, regardless of position or industry, to embrace the value of creative leadership. He shared the untold stories behind Cirque’s biggest shows, including “Beatles LOVE,” “Michael Jackson ONE,” and the aquatic marvel, “O”.

“Without creativity, there is no business,” said Mr. Lamarre. “I want to promote creativity around the world because it will become the difference between an innovative led organization and an ordinary organization.”

Mr. Lamarre oversees strengthening existing key partnerships and driving new growth projects for Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group. After 20 years building the organization, he transitioned into his current role this past December, adding valuable expertise, and a strong Quebec presence, to the Board of Directors. For the last two decades, as President and CEO of Cirque du Soleil, Mr. Lamarre was in charge of strategy at both the business development and operations level. Maintaining the fine balance between the company’s overall strategy, stability and financial growth, as well as the integrity of its culture and corporate values, he spearheaded the company’s transformation into the global live entertainment leader that it is today.
