“THE PRESIDENT’S OWN” UNITED STATES MARINE BAND is America’s oldest continuously active professional musical organization. Established by an Act of Congress in 1798, the mission of the Marine Band is unique—to provide music for the President of the United States and the Commandant of the Marine Corps.
Each fall, the Marine Band travels throughout a portion of the continental United States during its concert tour, a tradition initiated in 1891 by “The March King” John Philip Sousa, who was the band’s legendary 17th Director. Concertgoers can expect to experience a mix of works including traditional band repertoire, Sousa marches, contemporary compositions, vocal and instrumental solos, and a patriotic salute to the Armed Forces.
Ticket Policy: Admission to the concert is free, but tickets are required. Tickets become void at 7:15pm (15 minutes before the start of the concert) Open seating thereafter. Patrons with tickets should be seated at least 15 minutes prior to the performance to guarantee their spot. Once tickets expire, individuals waiting standby will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis.
