Eager to forge connections across cultures, disciplines and generations, master cellist Yo-Yo Ma created the Silk Road Ensemble, which redefines classical music by mixing the foreign with the familiar. The Wall Street Journal has called the internationally acclaimed group, which plays instruments ranging from world percussion to Western strings to the Chinese sheng (mouth organ), “one of the 21st century’s greatest ensembles.”
