Three musically inclined chipmunks, Alvin—Simon—Theodore, are accidentally transported to Los Angeles when their pine tree home is chopped down and shipped to a record label’s headquarters as a Christmas tree. The boys end up meeting David Seville, a down-and-out songwriter who’s none too happy at first to make their acquaintance. Eventually, of course, the trio’s singing talent inspires Dave to write a Christmas song that wows an unscrupulous record executive who schemes to charm the boys away from Dave’s influence. The rest is chipmunk history.
