No one marries jazz and pop with the lush romanticism of trumpeter and composer, Chris Botti, a trailblazing conceptualist who has collaborated with everyone from Sting and Paul Simon to Burt Bacharach and Andrea Bocelli. His new CD, Italia, includes Botti’s haunting interpretation of “Ave Maria,” a selection he often uses to open his concerts. Expect a night of music as spontaneous as it is cool.
